Mike

I have done very similar to Terry, although I made a template from 3mm ply,
covered it in cling film, rapid epoxied this into my wingtip hole then layed
up over the inside of it. After cure I cut away holes for the bulbs and
wires before fixing anchor nuts etc. One point made by PFA engineering to
me - they suggested the XS wing tip acts as a tip rib so you need to lay up
enough BID to restore the strength having cut a hole in it.

Same arrangement with conduit for wires (and pitot tubing). Same place for
flasher unit although I am using a Skyworld flasher with the Whelen stobes
as it weighs a fraction of the Whelen one.

Hi All,

I am busy fitting a set of Whelan strobes to my XS wings and was wondering
if I could impose on your collective wisdom as to how anyone has fitted
them - do you use a ply wood base plate bonded to the tips - where do you
recomend installing the power unit - are there any hidden snags. Thanks to
all for the bulkhead information - certainly clarified it all and made it
one heck of a lot easier to do.
