I have also problems with my RC Allen gyro. It unflag but do not mantain the
horizont position properlly. It looks like that it lacks "power". =BFWhat is a
C or D cell?

Not to despair just yet, as I haven't exercised mine as often as
desired, but both work as sweet as you please.  A 12V lead-acid batt
may not ever unflag them, so I add a C or D cell in series to kick it
up to around 13.8V.  Need to exercise the gimbal bearings, not just
run the motor.

Re customer service: buy my instrument-shop lady friend, owner of same
for 30+ yrs, a martini and learn all about the depressed state of the
industry.  I do her corporation's taxes, and trust me those repair
prices are common.  She won't work on electrics, nor many others, as
it's better to UPS it off to one of a few big gyro places or mfr for
fix.

Lack of user directions: they should, but the end-user market not thru
installers is very small. Same failure problem of nonuse for
air-driven gyros.  And nobody's making any money.  When she sold me my
gyros for her wholesale cost, her assertion was confirmed.  There's
retailers selling these things for $50-$100 margin.  With Ohio sales
tax paid, I lost out to Aircraft Spruce price, but who often B/O's
them.
