>I would be very interested in hearing about what various builders have
done
re the overhead cockpit panel. I'm not very keen on headset jacks there,
since I think that the cords would be less in the way if the jacks were in
the headrests.<

I have mounted the jacks in an aluminium box which fits almost flush with
the overhead panel. This box acts also as a station box to select CD or
worldband radio (both also roof mounted). The box also contains a pair of
Muse units to mix in the CD or radio. This is probably going a little over
the top for most builders!

to route
the air ducting!<

I have included these at the front of the overhead panel just aft of the
door hinges. The air supply is provided by an outward opening flap on the
roof.

>It would also be handy if it were removable--which means glassing in some
brackets to take nutplates, etc.<

Before fixing the overhead ply panel I cut 4 square apertures in it with
rounded corners. Then I reduxed it onto the roof moulding with chamfers on
the side edges to blend it in. 4 removable panels were then bolted to the
main overhead panel using anchor nuts.
Finally all panels were covered with vinyl fabric and press on caps were
fitted to the bolt heads.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Nigel Charles
