Welcome to my world.=C2- I have no solutions only recommendations on what
 works for me.

Vinyl, leather, plastic and fiberglass harden with age and move with temper
ature and humidity.=C2- I=99m not impressed with any of the over th
e counter adhesives for vinyl type upholstery to plastic/epoxy.=C2-

Like any adhesive, performance it is all about the prep.=C2- All upholste
ry which comes loose is due to a breakdown of the bond on the aircraft skin
or upholstery.=C2- Fiberglass does not allow a contact cement to stick t
o it chemically so it needs a mechanical bond.=C2- Scratch the surface.
=C2- Plexiglass really is hard to bond to and is easily damaged by the ch
emicals if not tested.

I use 3M 90 with mixed results. =C2-It works for re-bonding an interior a
fter a fuel tank replacement. =C2-Sticks well to fiberglass that is clean
and lightly scuffed. Weldwood contact cement is fine for non foam lined fa
bric and won=99t stain on most. =C2-Industrial adhesives have limit
s.=C2- Some are fabric to metal, vinyl to vinyl and metal to rubber, but
plastic to foam or vinyl is limited.=C2- H-66 is a nasty smelling, MEK ty
pe, highly flammable contact cement that is affordable and comes in small q
uantities.=C2- It is pretty good for touchups.=C2- Also I have used a D
AP product called Landau vinyl roof glue=C2- HHR cement.=C2- I acquired
the bottom of a $60 gallon and tried it on my trouble spot around the wind
screen.=C2- It lasted a bit longer than the Weldwood and 3M 90.=C2- See
ms like nothing lasts longer than a year around the windscreen.=C2- Botto
m line is to pull the fabric/vinyl back from the windscreen, clean off the
old glue as best you can, scuff the fiberglass and re-glue to the edge of t
he scuffed windscreen glass and it works.=C2- But then you see your paint
line from the outside.=C2- =C2-=C2-All these glues are available on
Amazon.com.

The plexiglass ( actually acrylic ) of the windscreen is the toughest glue
down of vinyl upholstery to plastic I have ever done.=C2- =C2-=C2-If
the glue sticks to the vinyl interior, it doesn=99t to the windscreen
.=C2- You have to test around the windscreen as MEK attacks acrylic, so a
lways test.=C2- Scuffing the windscreen helps quite a bit on the plexi, b
ut it is not perfect.=C2- I get about 12 months before it starts coming d
own again.=C2- Heat is our enemy in the southern climates.=C2-

ALWAYS TEST THE GLUE FIRST BEFORE SPRAYING OR BRUSHING AS IT CAN ATTACK SOM
E UPHOLSTERY BACKING FOAMS OR STAIN YOUR INTERIOR FABRIC OR RUIN YOU WINDSC
REEN.

Thanks so much!
On another issue, most all of the interior finishing is coming unstuck.=C2
- We have tried various adhesives, hot glue, bubble gum etc, but nothing
seems to hold.=C2- Haven=99t tried contact cement.=C2- The origin
al adhesive was (is) a brownish rubbery substance which no longer sticks to
much of anything except to your rubber gloved fingers.=C2- Separation ha
s occurred all around the windshield, cobra.even the insulating la
yer has separated in a few locations from the outer shell and the vinyl is
separating from the insulating layer.=C2- Does the vinyl shrink over time
causing the vinyl pull away especially curved surfaces? =C2-
=C2-Suggestions?
Regards,
Hal Carpenter
