I had occasion to fly my Tri-gear, 912S, without the wheel spats during last 
winter
because of the soggy conditions and mud.

Knocked around 5Kts off the cruise so I surmise that each of the parts over the
flap hinges etc contribute a little to overall speed gain. Not weighed the spats
though so might do that next time I have them removed.
