We have been making good progress rigging the wings on my XS Monowheel.
Managed to get the starboard wing lift pin sockets bonded where I wanted them to
be.
After cure of Redux and bolting them to fuse, I wanted to see just how well the
starboard wing was "stuck" to the fuse.
I am not going to pull that wing off anytime soon, but I did notice if I sweep
the wing forward and aft it moves about 1/2" between loading the aft lift pin
to fuse with a clunk, clunk between loading it under compression (aft sweep) and
tension (forward sweep). I am assured this is normal, but I don't like it too
much.
I identified the majority of slop as being caused by the rear lift pin quick
release
pin being undersized a bit (under .250" in diameter, closer to .245"). I
had a .250" rod hanging around that I inserted and the clunk, clunk 1/2"
movement
is largely gone.
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a MIL spec quick release pin that
would work for the aft lift pin that is in fact .250" in diameter? Kinda sorta
to have a fit like a NAS bolt?
Thx.
