"I see from the PFA's interpretation of the rules that an owner's close
relative can receive training to PPL level in the owner's plane"

Absolutely correct. Irene and I have been doing it for the last six
months. Do not forget that the other restrictions such as a licensed
field and qualified instructor still apply. A few points worth making
are:-

The average flying school owner/CFI will tell will tell you are wrong
and they have never heard of this. If that is the reaction you get it
is obviously the wrong instructor for you.

The instructor must be happy and confident that they have control of the
aircraft from the right seat. So they need to be very experienced or
have some conversion training onto the Europa. As yours is a trigear
this is all possible but on a mono much more difficult. At the very
least they will need time to learn your aircraft's behaviour and
systems.

It will be hard on your aircraft. We have put some 200 landings on ours
in four months. Nothing has broken but you need to keep on top of the
servicing and general maintenance. The instructor and student will pick
up on things you are familiar with and suggest "improvements".

And yes it is much cheaper than club aircraft hire.

Good luck in finding someone suitable and willing. We spent quite a
long time looking.
