Almost what I did but I put the strips of carbon fibre on the top side
of the lower surface of the door through the opening made for the handle
mechanism.  I measured the increase in stiffness of the lower part of
the door and the stiffness increased by about a factor of three.  If
this is not enough, I will put a small pin in it.
