Starting cold 914

Hi group,

I have about 3.5 hours of running time now on my 914 engine and am very close
to first flight. It has run very well, but now after the painting down time,
I have colder weather and during start and initial warm up, I am getting
misfiring on one cylinder. That cylinder varies. I can tell because I have a
scanner and can see the EGT low on the cylinder that is not firing. I can
feel it as well missing on one. Once it is warmed up, it runs like a sewing
machine. It has missed on #3 and on #2, but only one at a time.

Since this thing is shortly going to carry me into the wild blue yonder, I
want to be certain there is nothing I am doing wrong. I am used to Lycomings
and the Rotax engine with the choke is a little bit different. I cleaned out
the plugs on #3, even though they were not bad and I don't think it continued
to miss there. The exhaust pipe is black and it has spit out black residue I
can see on the white paint, and that seems like it is rich -- maybe I am
using too much choke?

Any ideas out there?

Thanks,

Dave
