Pops if right. But I have found through trial and error over the years that
slower is much better that too fast. Try and set your drill press for a
speed that is on the slower side of the choice. As a rule the charts say
that the bigger the drill the slower you want to turn. The harder the metal
the slower too. Right now my drill press is set at 730 RPM. That is not
fast.
Just my opinion, for what its is worth.
