You probably heard that for military reasons the GPS signal
had been degraded for many years.
Now I heard news stating that as of May 2, 2000 the SA
(selective availability) has been switched off permanently.
This is supposed to improve the pinpointing of your position
by a factor of 10.
I went out and confirmed this with my old 8-channel GPS95AVD.
You don't need any DGPS now any more. 5 Meters of accuracy !
This is good news for people who missed their airports up
to now ... ;-)
