I heard NASA stands for No Adult Supervision Around.
I cut my tank for the capacitance guage and had no problems with the
installation. In the marine business we have been using roto-molded tanks
for many years and cut and drilled them regularly with excellent results.
It was a trick to get the backing plate inside the tank - I finally cut it
into a "C" shape and worked it through the hole. I then put the tank upside
down above me to install the bolts.
You are right about one thing, I wouldn't like doing it in a tank that is
already installed.
